About Red Deer

Red Deer is located in Central Alberta, midway between the major cities of Edmonton & Calgary and only 2.5 hours drive to Canmore/Banff.

Red Deer is home to 101,002 residents (2019 Municipal Census). My favourite thing about Red Deer is its’ extensive trail systems. Red Deer has more than 110 kilometres of soft and hard surface trails that traverse the Waskasoo Park system. Red Deer is family & dog friendly with two off leash dog parks, Three Mile Bend & Oxbow. Three Mile Bend is the larger of the two, and is a 55 hectare natural area that caters to a variety of outdoor activities. It is located on the North Bank Trail adjacent to the Red Deer River.

Red Deer is also home to “RDC” Red Deer College, which recently was approved in 2018 to become a university. RDC offers more than 100 programs, including degrees, certificates, diplomas and skilled trade programs. The college continues to grow as they transition to become a polytechnic university during the next three to five years. Once this transition is complete, RDC will officially be known as Red Deer University.

Red Deer is rich in culture and hosts a variety of festivals, events and activities for everyone to enjoy. Like hockey? Don’t miss a Red Deer Rebels game!
